Inspirational Quote – Lebron James

Remove The Bull

I went to visit my little darlings this past weekend so we could pick out pumpkins for Halloween. We decided to go to a different pumpkin patch this year, oh my.  When we arrived, we decided to jump on the hayride, which was quite different from what we were used to when visiting the other pumpkin patch we normally go to.  The idea was to take us on the opposite side of the farm where the kids could play on the haystack slide, bounce house and other activities.

As we were riding along, I spotted these beautiful horses.  So cute with the foal taking a nap, but my grandson spotted the huge bull in the above picture heading over to the wagon to say hello. It didn’t go over well, as you can see my grandson was not a happy camper and ran to Mawmaw to rescue him.  The driver explained that the bull weighed 2,000 pounds, but in my grandson’s mind it was 5,000 pounds. The driver was courtesy, when he saw that my grandson was upset he drive away.  The funniest thing was his 3 year old sister telling him that the poppa cow just wanted to kiss him.  Xavier wasn’t having any of it.  He just wanted to move away from that huge monster of a cow that wanted to eat him.

These were happier times.  We hoped off the hay wagon and headed to the teepees and pumpkin patch.  Xavier soon forgot about the bull and had a great time inside the teepee and Zarriah in the pumpkin patch.

This was our first visit to Taylor Farms in Virginia Beach, VA.  We had a great time and will return. If you’re visiting or live in the Hampton’s Road area, be sure to pay them a visit. This pumpkin patch is a great family spot, easy parking, it allows many photo opportunities to capture memories and it’s designed to fit a limited budget.

Capturing the Unexpected – Sunsets

sunsets

sunsets

sunsets

Have you ever had a moment where the most unexpected thing happens? I stepped out on my deck this evening to sip a cup of coffee and wind down after a 5 hour drive from visiting my grandchildren.  As I was exhaling and enjoying the crisp air, I noticed this beautiful sunset in front of me.  It was amazing, and just what I needed to wind down for the day. I love my property and home, I never know what I’ll found when I step outside. I had actually thought about selling and downsizing, but when you’re surrounded by this type of beauty I find it hard to do. I actually had a lady drop off a cake for my granddaughter’s birthday tell me that she would buy my house and wanted to know if she could bring her husband by to see it. I laughed and asked her if there was a For Sale sign out front that I didn’t know about.

Another thing that I find amazing is most of my trees are still wearing their coats except in this one area. It just happened to be where this gorgeous sunset was taking place.  This is a perfect ending to my day. Off to download all the pictures from my visit to the pumpkin patch with the grandchildren.  Stay tuned.

Drama Queens Invite Drama Into Their Life

Drama queens and kings are everywhere. They try to disguise themselves, but we all know who they are eventually. I’ve discovered a few on my personal Facebook page. I read a post this morning that just sent me over the edge. It was riddled with profanity, graphic and totally inappropriate content. Β The person who posted it believed they were giving advice to someone about a man. It was aΒ reminder of why we parted ways years ago. Β I’ve often wondered, what people are thinking when they write posts and how they believe the content is appropriate. Now I like to be entertained, but some things need to be said in private and sometimes your personal business needs to remain just that.Β Β Β Β

Let me give you a few examples of inappropriate posts on my timeline:

  • Cussing baby’s momma or daddy and than putting them on blast for all to see. Β
  • Racist comments. Β Now you know I’m the wrong person for this bullsh**.
  • Selfies of you in the bathroom wearing just a bra. Β
  • Every post is about how poor of a job our President is doing. Β
  • Postings where every other word is profanity, but you want to be treated like a lady. Β  Β  Β
I’m grown and I’ve had my moments where I could have made a sailor look like a saint, but it was in the privacy of my home. I don’t have a need to flaunt my bra in public and I’m not interested in seeing anyone else’s either. Racist comments, but they claim they’re not racist. They know they are a bigot, but yet they want me as a friend. Β I keep people like this on my Friends List because I believe you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, ha. Β

One thing that I have learned over the course of the years is that people who always have drama in their life either invite, create or associate with it. Β For some reason they see themselves as the victim and they want you to leave a comment so you can join them in their pity party. No thank you. Β None of us have a perfect a life, and at times we need to vent or share what we’re going through, but if the majority of your posts are negative, you’re probably a big cause of the problem. Β
Β
I love Facebook. Β I believe it’s a great way to connect and stay in contact with family and friends. Β I love being able to see what’s happening in everyone’s life when it’s convenient for me. I have deleted a few people because I simply couldn’t take their negative posts. Β Yep, I’m not opposed to using the delete button. For the most part, my experience using this social network has been a pleasant experience and I will continue to use this site, I just had to discuss my disgust when people misuse things. Β  Β  Β Β
Β
I’ve recently added my blog to Facebook, so please head over and like my Mother 2 MotherΒ page, and thanks for listening. Β  Β  Β Β

Jillian chose 10 Ways to Beat the Rainy Day Blues from Ten at the Table. “I chose this post because it’s been pretty rainy around my area, and I’m always looking for new and fun things to do to spice up a boring, rainy day.”
DIY-laundry-room-shelf-
Meghan chose DIY Laundry Room Shelf from Latte Everyday. “This is an excellent idea for a wasted space above the washer and dryer. When we were looking at model homes at different communities, the laundry room was always immaculately staged. I always said I wanted my laundry room to look like one of those rooms, but who has the time and money to fix a laundry room up? Especially since it is a room that isn’t used by anyone other than myself. I love this idea for storage and even decor. I am definitely going to be doing this!”
bathtub toys
Bernadyn chose Deciding What to Keep and What to Let Go from Normal Everyday Life. “I chose this because it made me realize that one day, my kids will also stop playing with toys in the tub and I’ll actually be sad when there are not toys cluttering every space of the house! This was a bittersweet post that you can relate to as a parent. It makes me want to cherish these crazy, messy years with my two little ones even more.”
SONY DSC
Dorothy chose Random Parenting Fails, 2nd Edition from Ripped Jeans & Bifocals. “Every parent has small, random fails or even white lies that make them feel guilty, so it’s always nice to be reassured that there are other parents making mistakes too πŸ™‚ This post was short and cute. I loved it.”

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Photo Courtesy of Breast Cancer Awareness
Aren’t these pink pumpkins gorgeous!  What could be better than these beautiful pink pumpkins to remind us of Breast Cancer Awareness Month?  I was delighted that my mammogram came back normal this month. What a relief.  I dread having my annual mammogram, but I have learned the importance of setting my dread aside and scheduling my appointment. Ten minutes of discomfort is far better than months of radiation, chemo and all the other steps that must be taken to fight this disease.

Even so I sit for weeks praying that everything comes back normal, and until I receive the call from my doctor I’m holding my breath.  I’ve watched so many women fight this awful disease with tenacity and win, but I’ve also watched those who have lost their battle.

I know that the best course of action is examination of my breast at home for early detection and my mammogram.  It is advised that all women start having one at age 40 and if you have a history of breast cancer in your family age 35.  This year, there were more than 2.8 million women with a history of breast cancer in the United States.  Approximately 85% of the women diagnosed had no family history of breast cancer.

Breast cancer knows no boundaries, it affects women in all races and age groups.  Early detection is key ladies.
