Also, there’s nobody to blame, we just don’t make ourselves  a priority.  Our life simply becomes habit.  It’s equivalent to the alarm going off at the same time every morning.  We can learn to make ourselves a priority. Here’s a few ways moms can relax:

3 Tips For Your Winter Beauty Detox

winter beauty detox

Another year is just around the corner and it’s time for some New Years’ resolutions. Taking care of your health and beauty should definitely be among them. Still, it’s hard for busy moms to find time for themselves.  But it’s important for all moms to squeeze a few moments in for a winter beauty detox.  Begin the New Year with a fresh start.

Here are several tips on how to turn over a new leaf.

Food for Your Soul

According to that proverb, you are what you eat.  Your beauty detox must start from within. The food has an immense influence on the overall health and beauty.  Many moms prepare healthy food for their kids. But they only manage to grab a bite or two between doing the dishes and laundry for themselves.  Establishing a regular eating pattern is essential.

Detox doesn’t mean reducing your meals to various juices or shakes.  Instead of juice cleanses, you can also choose a more nutritious option.  Soups and broths are nutritious options.  You can make them with a wide variety of vegetables and seasonings, which means that they can be both tasty and healthy.

There’s no better way to warm up when it’s cold than enjoying a bowl of hot soup.  It’s excellent for digestion, so you won’t feel bloated.  Soups and broths can do wonders for your metabolism.  This means you’ll be able to shed a few pounds.  Additionally, they will improve your immune system and boost your energy levels.

 Cosmetic Changes

When you’re a mom, staying up late every time your kid has a cold or flu is inevitable. No wonder so many moms have dark circles under their eyes.  In addition to a lack of sleep, there are other factors that affect the skin and cause premature aging, wrinkles and spots.  This includes smoking, too much sugar, and sun exposure.  In many cases, inadequate and stale makeup is a frequent culprit for various skin problems too.

Since we’re talking about seasonal cleaning, maybe it would be a good idea to look through your makeup cabinet and get rid of everything that you haven’t used for a while. It’s time to turn to natural cosmetics which are adjusted to your skin type. Carefully selected skincare products such as highly effective Skinstitut masks, scrubs, cleansers or peels will help your skin.  Shea butter and coconut oil can be used instead of chemical moisturizers.  And just one more piece of advice – drinking a lot of water is a must when it comes to youthful looking skin.

Me Time

Being a mom is the most important role in a women’s life.  Everyday chores can be tiresome, and in the long run, a hectic lifestyle has numerous bad effects.  That’s why it’s essential to snatch at least a couple of moments every day to relax and do something that will make you feel good.

Taking a brisk walk will both clear your mind and help you stay in shape. No matter how busy you are, you can treat yourself to a de-stressing hot bath with mineral salts every now and then.  Don’t neglect yourself as that’s the only way to stay energized, positive and satisfied.

Winter is an excellent time to ditch some bad habits and detox your skin and mind. It may seem like a complex task, but sometimes it’s enough to change a few details and achieve amazing results.  Start implementing these winter beauty detox tips into your busy schedule now.

Teach Your Family the Importance of Oral Hygiene

oral hygiene

Even people who say they’re really picky about oral hygiene might be making loads of mistakes in their daily routine. Taking proper care of your teeth and gums is essential.  Make sure you’re not making mistakes! This guide will help you achieve better oral hygiene health habits.

There’s plaque on your teeth right now

Unless you literally just brushed your teeth, there’s a dangerous biofilm on them right now. It’s often very thin, translucent, and filled with bacteria. It’s at the front of your teeth, at the back, to the sides, and even under the gums. It might sound like I’m describing some monstrous goo from some straight-to-DVD horror movie. But I’m actually referring to plaque!

Plaque develops and builds up around your teeth all day.  And it’s there, even if you’re convinced it isn’t. A lot of people may skip brushing sometimes because their teeth feel clean. They might swig some mouthwash just to get a minty flavor in there, but that’ll be it. Big mistake! Plaque is on your teeth right now, and you’ll have to brush your teeth before going to bed if you don’t want damage to occur! Not doing so can cause long-term problems to your overall health.

oral hygiene

Seriously, floss

A good and thorough floss at least once a day is the only way to get rid of all that plaque. Unfortunately, not everyone who brushes their teeth thoroughly bothers to floss as well. Thankfully, things have been getting better in recent years. Perhaps a decade ago, it was estimated that less than half of Americans flossed daily. In recent years, the statistics are looking much better. But the statistics still aren’t perfect. (Seriously, less than half of men brush their teeth twice a day? Come on, guys! Not that women are much better at 56.8%…)

Trust me, dentists can tell almost immediately if you’re someone who doesn’t floss. If you’re not flossing, then you’re allowing a lot of damage to occur to your mouth. The materials that floss removes have a habit of getting really old and making their way into your bloodstream. This is basically akin to allowing out-of-date food getting into your system, bit by bit. Over the years, this can cause serious health problems. Seriously: the research out there is linking a lack of flossing to severe heart disease.

Dealing with problems when they occur

The problem that a lot of people have is that they tend to ignore problems when they occur. This, of course, is extremely foolish. The longer you allow oral problems to linger, the worse they’ll get.

And they can escalate into a pretty nasty territory quickly. One of the most ignored problems is the presence of blood when you brush your teeth. People may assume that they’re brushing their teeth too hard – and that could indeed be the case. But it could be that gum disease is present, which is causing you to bleed even when brushing gently.

Another problem that people often allow to go untreated is chronic dry mouth. They may think that they simply need to drink more water. Which, of course, is something you should probably be doing! But it could also be the result of a specific oral problem. Get it seen quickly, because bacteria grows faster in a dry mouth! Sometimes, people let issues that have already turned into a bad situation to get even worse! This is often because people don’t know how to deal with emergency matters. Let’s say you have a root canal emergency. Don’t just assume you can’t get help just because 911 doesn’t include dental services!  There are 24 hour dental services.

Getting a little too enthusiastic about cleanliness

Don’t let this article scare you into brushing and flossing too hard. This is actually a lot more common than you might think.  After all, there’s a lot of plaque on and around your teeth at any given time, right?

Seriously, don’t fall into that line of thinking. It’s completely possible to brush your teeth too hard. And the effects can be pretty devastating. It can actually lead to some of the decay issues you’re trying to prevent.

You may also cause gum erosion. I’d include pictures of that here, but… trust me, you really don’t want to see them! Your dentist may be able to tell if you’re brushing or flossing too hard. Be careful going forward, because it’s easier than you think to apply too much force.

Hippie Hair and Beauty Trends Are Back

makeup trends

Trends for this winter are pretty simple and straightforward.  Yet they are rather captivating.  It seems that the hippie style is back in full force.  And there will be some new and interesting combinations for you to try out.

So, check out the newest trends for this winter that will rock your world.

  1. Bright red lips

Bright red lipstick had fallen out of favor some time ago. However, this winter it has seen a resurgence. So, if you love wearing strong, intense colors this winter will be perfect for you. Use lip pencil after applying the lipstick and don`t forget that lip stain is more popular than ever.

  1. Braids are cool again

You can either go with a simple braid, boxer braids or fishbone style. Given that the hippie look is more causal, you can relax and let your hair stick out here and there. As long as it looks casual and loose, it will be trendy.

  1. Pink shades

The big difference between a youthful appearance and a middle-aged appearance is the natural blush.  You can replicate that nice, natural color with a little bit of pink. Whether we talk about your cheeks, eyelids or lips, pink can do wonders for you.  However, make sure you don’t overdo it!  Check your appearance in front of a mirror with good lighting.  Determine if that particular nuance works for you.  Looking as natural as possible is the way to go.  Don’t do anything that will go against it.

  1. Natural hair volume

Forget about straightening your hair.  Bring in natural volume this winter.  For ladies with straight hair,  sleep with your hair wet and braided.  This will give you soft, airy waves that will look great.  Pay attention to the quality of your hair.  If you have naturally curly hair, it should be healthy and well-nurtured.

  1. Glowing skin

Bronzer can give your skin that sunny shine that is missing in cold, winter days.  Apply it mildly.

  1. Blue eye

In one way or the other, blue is the color that is for seasons persevering in every beauty bag around the world. This season, it will even get a special place in your collection. Renown make-up artists write advice on how to choose the right shade of the blue eyeshadow  It should be according to the shape of your eye.  Also, another trick is to combine it with the blue eye pencil to make the line circling your eye more precise.

  1. New nail metallic

Metallic is in again! We are back to gold, bronze and silver accents on our nails. A twist to the old saying this season is that what glitters – is gold!

  1. Hair accessories

Various hair bows, clips, flowers and flower wreaths can be super-cool, Boho, romantic, or even eccentric.  Wear them as a contrast to your wardrobe.

Now that you are flooded with beauty and hair tips, we expect that you will try them out.  Finally, sitting down at a mirror that has good lighting will help you ensure that your makeup and accessories are becoming.  You will want to make sure your hair and makeup are attractive before you show your beauty to the world.

Transitional Pieces From Summer To Fall For Every Woman

fashion tips for women

As you already know, the early days of autumn are pretty unpredictable when it comes to weather forecast.  It’s impossible to always know how to dress properly. As a result,  you should have a collection of transitional pieces from summer to fall that you can layer easily.  If it gets too hot you can remove an item;  if it get too cold you can add an item.

If you’re not quite sure how to achieve that, stay with us. Here are six transitional pieces every woman needs in her wardrobe.

Long sleeve dress

No, you don’t have to say goodbye to your favorite summer dresses as soon as autumn arrives.  You can still wear them when the temperatures drop.  Simply add a jacket or cardigan.  Needless to say, you won’t freeze thanks to those long sleeves!  Additionally, a long sleeved dress should be a staple in your in your wardrobe for the season.  These looks are sophisticated and very trendy at the same time.

Trench coat

If you still don’t own a trench coat, it’s high time you got one! This piece is truly timeless because of its versatility in the first place. You can wear it both in casual and formal occasions.  I recommend one with a removable liner for colder days and nights.  When you remove the liner it will be lightweight, but still provide warmth and coziness.  It’s perfect for the transitional period!

Cardigan

A stylish cardigan in an autumn-friendly shade will certainly keep you warm.  It will complement your outfit and take it to a new level. Colors such as Terracotta, Marsala, Olive, and Emerald Green may be just perfect for this season.  So have them in mind while choosing a perfect cardigan. Match it with a striped shirt, add a piece of statement jewelry, and voila – your transitional outfit is all done!

Trendy sunglasses

A good pair of high-quality sunglasses are needed during the fall months too.  The sun’s rays are still strong.  Apart from protecting your eyes, sunglasses are extremely fashionable. That makes them must-haves for a transitional period. When choosing a perfect pair, make sure that it perfectly fits the shape of your face.

Numerous brands and fashion houses are coming up with different shapes and sizes.  If you’re not quite sure which ones to purchase, you can always choose classic Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses. This model looks stunning on almost every face shape, while captivating with its Italian elegance at the same time.

Silk scarf

Autumn inevitably brings lower temperatures, which is exactly why a stylish silk scarf is an absolute must when it comes to your perfect outfit. It is a perfect choice since a heavy woolen scarf would definitely be too much – it may be too warm, which can possibly cause you to sweat a lot. For this reason, a nice silk scarf will do the trick. Just choose one in your favorite autumnal shade, or with a trendy print, and you’ll be good to go!

Pointed toe flats

The flip-flop season is finally behind us.  You can finally slip into your pointed toe flats that are just perfect for this period. You can wear these to both formal and informal occasions.  You can go for a casual drink after work or to a meeting with business partners. Select a pair that are stylish, yet so comfortable.  Style and comfort should be your top priority while picking the right one.

Here you go – a list of six transitional pieces from summer to fall are right in front of you! Each one of them is definitely a must-have for the upcoming seasons. So, make sure that you have at least some of these. Trust us, such pieces will make your life much easier!

5 Full Body Massages To Try

massage therapy, full body massages, massages, Swedish massage

Do you find yourself tied in knots, stressed out, joints and muscles aching at some point through out the year?  I can relate, life can be stressful and stress can wreck havoc on our minds and bodies. Stress can manifest itself in many ways, which is why we need to pay attention to our bodies and deal with it when it appears.  .

For the past few years, I have treated myself to a full body massage for my birthday. I swear by it. They relieve stress and work out the kinks. I literally leave the spa like a wet noodle. You are so relaxed, it is advised that you not drive after your session. If you have never had a full body massage, you must add this pleasure to your list. Ask your husband or significant other for a gift certificate for your birthday, Christmas or just because. Every woman deserves to be pampered at least once in their lifetime, but be warned once you start you will want to continue the service.

Here are the massages offered at the spa that I use.  I have had 3 of the 5 listed, the Swedish, Hot Stone and Deep Tissue. I love the Swedish and Hot Stone, but I encourage you to research and make a decision on what you think you would enjoy:

1.  Swedish –  It’s the most sought after and is used to relax the entire body. The massage therapist uses long strokes to increase the level of oxygen in the blood while decreasing toxins and improving circulation. It eases tension as well.

2.  Prenatal –  These are great for the mother to be. The massage therapists focuses on decreasing swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints.

3.  Hot Stone – It is amazing what hot stones can do. They literally melt the stress away, eliminates stiff muscles, increases circulation and your metabolism. Because the hot stones relax muscles, the masseuse is able to do a deep muscle massage.

4.  Deep Tissue – The Deep tissue massage is similar to the Swedish massage. It focuses on deeper pressure with the goal to be the release of chronic muscle tension. This massage is known to drop the blood pressure and boosts your mood and relaxation.

5  Reflexology – The massage therapist will use the traditional Swedish and sports massage techniques starting with the hands and than moving to the feet, calf, and upper leg area. This is great for athletics or those who have problems with foot or ankle pain.  It also reduces stress.

The spa that I use also offers packages for couples, girlfriends, mom and daughter/son or mom and granddaughter/grandson. Make it a family affair or  a day of intimacy, you won’t regret it. It will leave you wanting more and more.

10 Steps To Deal With Grief From A Breakup

grief from a breakup

Trying to mend a broken heart from a breakup or divorce?  I’ve been there and it can be a rough road.  Grief from a breakup can cause you to want to die or at least feel that you are.  You may try to rekindle the relationship by plotting a scheme on how on you can get him or her back.  Calling, texting, or checking their  Facebook page enters your mind.  You may even drive by their house or have conversations with their friends to get advice on how to work things out.

STOP!   Take a deep breath, regroup and focus on you.  I know it’s hard, but you have to do it so that you can start the healing process.  It’s the only way you can move on with your life.  If you were unable to resolve your differences and you’re in the grieving process, you need to get real.  You had some serious problems that sent you or your partner in the opposite direction.

If you couldn’t resolve them when you where together, it’s doubtful that they will ever be resolved.   Sometimes we just outgrow each other.  I knew, I’ve already walked in your shoes.  Here’s a quote that I want you to absorb:  “God will sometimes end a relationship for your protection.  Don’t chase after the person he’s trying to save you from.” – Trent Shelton.

Sometimes you see it coming and sometimes you don’t.  However, the longer you try to hold on the longer you will endure pain.  Ending a relationship with someone that you vowed to spend the rest of your life with or you have fell deeply in love with is like a death.  I have experienced both and you grieve over both losses.  Just as important, you may become angry or you don’t want to get out of bed.  You may cry until the well runs dry and the list goes on.  I went through this when my ex-husband and I divorced, and when I lost my father to cancer.  Grief from a breakup whether in love or death is painful.

I survived and you can too.  Here’s how:

  1. Know that you life is not over, your lovable and you’re moving on to the next chapter in your life.
  2. You’re not a failure, you were smart enough to know when it was time to get out.
  3. Your children will be fine.  There are millions of children in the world who come from divorced homes and they don’t turn out to be rapists or bank robbers.
  4. Pamper yourself during this time period.  You must treat yourself well and know that you deserve it.  Don’t run your credit cards up, just treat yourself occasionally.
  5. Don’t jump into another relationship.  Rebounds are not wise and they rarely work.
  6. Set small goals for yourself.  This would be a good time to join a gym and work off some stress.  If you can’t afford a gym, find a safe place to walk.  It’s a good way to think and clear your head.
  7. Limit yourself on the number of conversations that you have about him/her.  It will only prolong your healing.
  8. Enhance your job skills, your household income will be less.  Don’t depend on anything other than child support.  Unless you are married to a million, women are rarely awarded alimony. Get a job and in the meantime, enhance your skills so you can get a better one.  There are programs available to assist you.  Reach out.
  9. Find a church, you need to renew your faith to get you through the rough times.
  10. Get focused! You will be heading up your household and leading the way for your children.

Additionally, remember to start your grieving process slowly.  And make sure you work through all stages.  Otherwise, you will only be placing band-aids on open wounds.  You will experience many emotions.  So, there will be sadness, anger, bitterness, loneliness and why me sessions.  Know that emotions are temporary and it’s okay to experience them.

Furthermore, your ex will move on and begin dating again.  Prepare yourself, and whatever you do, don’t approach the other woman.  She can’t be with him if he doesn’t want to be with her.  You don’t want your children to find out that you handled things in this manner.

Last, give yourself plenty of time to heal.  Check out my post on Divorce Cakes for a laugh.  Laughing is good for the soul.  It’s a wonderful feeling when you’re ready to move on.  You will come out of it stronger, wiser and a better person for your struggle.  It’s unwise to try to hold on to something that no longer exists.  Most importantly, let it go so you can free yourself  for someone who is deserving of you and your love.
