What’s Hot for Spring – Cat Eye Glasses Are In

I’m checking out what’s hot for spring 2011.  I love fashion, and I’m always on the look-out for the latest fashion trend.  What goes around comes around, cat eye sunglasses will be in this year ladies.  These glasses were hot in the 60’s and 70’s and they will be reappearing in the spring.  Audrey Hepburn made these glasses fashionable in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Marilyn Monroe was a huge fan of the cat eye glasses too.  Reviews are showing that stores are stocking up, they are anticipating the glasses being in high demand.

If you want to be fashionable without paying a fortune, I found the glasses shown for $14.00 at Urban Outfitters. Aren’t they the cat’s meow!  I’m purring!  You can find cat eye glasses in red, white, black and just about any color imaginable.  I wanted the studded black so I can wear them with everything.  These glasses are 100% UV protected, so they should suffice for those sunny days.  Designers are suggesting that we create a vintage look by trying a pair of hoop earrings and a 60’s type hair style.

I love that the 60’s and 70’s styles are coming back.  I’ve been sporting fish net stockings and knee length boots for the past few months.  I will be doing a series of posts on what’s hot for spring and summer.  I’ll be sure to share a post on the fishnet stocking and boots that are in this winter.  I will definitely be scouring consignment shops for hoop earrings in the spring.  I love rummaging through vintage jewelry for that perfect find.

Do you remember the cat eye glasses?  Leave us a comment and let us know what fashion item you would like to see make a come back.

HTC Android Desire – I Love You

I took the plunge this year and upgraded my cell phone to the Android Desire.  This phone is getting great reviews and I understand why.  It has GPS, touch screen, and email capabilities. This phone packs a full 3.7 inch matrix OLED screen, a 5 mega pixel camera and a 1 GHZ Snapdragon processor, sweet.  The touchscreen took some getting used to, but once mastered it’s easy to dial, text or surf the web.  Another great feature is you can lock the phone when you place it in your purse.  Great feature to keep you from inadvertently dialing someone.

The internet connection is incredible.  I also love the fact that you can turn the phone on it’s side and the screen turns for easier texting or dialing.  How cool is that?  The Desire also has Google navigation, FM Radio, Facebook and Twitter icons.  I just downloaded the applications for eBay, my favorite news sites, Photobucket, the Weather Channel TV.com and a host of others.  Free ring tones and ring backs are in abundance too.

I’m still the learning the camera features as well as some others, but all in all I’m having a hard time finding anything negative about this phone.  If you need support, you can contact the manufacturer, HTC, for service rather than your provider for assistance.  There are great on-line forums where you can find assistance as well.  Another plus is that you’re not connected at the hip to one particular carrier like the iPhone and AT & T.

I’m glad I took the plunge with this phone.  If you’re in the market for a new one, the Android line is worth checking out.

Adorable Carter’s PJs for Toddlers

Looking for pj’s for your toddler boy for the winter?  Check out the selection of Carter’s pj’s at www.boscovs.com  Boscov’s speaks my language, quality items at a great price.  I’ve been shopping on-line at this site for the pass 3 years, and I can always find adorable items for boys.  As mother’s of boys know, that can be a challenge.  I must admit the market has gotten better when it comes to clothing for boys, but it can still be daunting.
Xavier doesn’t like to keep covers on, so I’m always looking for nice warm pjs for him to wear during the winter.  He doesn’t like to keep socks on when he’s at home either, so I search for the footless 2 piece sets.  Boscov’s has a nice selection.  I’ve found everything from dinosaurs to race car pjs for him. The adorable sports pjs shown will be under Mama’s tree this year.

I also love the fact that they always washed up nicely. “If they could just stay little ’til their Carter’s wear out” holds true.”  He outgrows them before they wear out.

Xavier looks forward to picking out his pjs at bedtime, and I can see why.  His drawer is full of colorful and fun pjs to wear.  If you’re looking for a good deal at a reasonable price, check out www.boscovs.com  Leave us a comment and let us know where you discovered cute pjs for your toddler.

Little Tikes Tee Ball Review

I purchased this Little Tikes Tee Ball set for my grandson this summer and he absolutely loves it.  He usually wakes up around 8:00 or 8:30 each morning.  After he gets his bearings, he wants to immediately head outside to play baseball.  Now he is a lover of pancakes and when something is placed before his beloved pancakes, it is a great product.

The set is nice and thick and sturdy.  It’s a good thing, because my grandson has the ability to play in the majors as we speak.  When he gets positioned and swings, the ball is a goner.  As he says, “I hit a home run Mama”.   As you can see from the picture above, he’s wearing his McQueen PJs.  I was able to get shoes and socks on him before we headed out the door, lol.

I was quite surprised by the quality of the product for the price that I paid at our local Wal-Mart.  Xavier is able to pick up the tee and steady it when he knocks it over.  I’m not sure if my yard is uneven or if it’s the force behind the batter that knocks the tee over.  Regardless, I will stand behind this product.

The set is easy to assembly.  It includes the tee, 2 balls and an oversized bat.  When Xavier first used the set, he struggled to hit the ball without knocking the tee over.  It didn’t take him long to learn that he just needed to hit the ball.  The set helps with coordination and batting skills.  He is now learning about bases and sliding.  Where he learned to slide I have no idea.

In addition to teaching Xavier basic skills, the set has provided hours of family fun.  He even managed to get his diva mommy, my daughter, to play ball with him in 4 inch heels.  He got quite a thrill out of that moment.

The set is worth the purchase and I highly recommended.  I love Little Tikes products and this set is a reminder of why.  Head out and make the purchase, your kids will love you for it.

My Grandson’s B-Day Gift

I purchased this adorable table and chair set for my grandson’s birthday. He’s into cars and learning to color, finger paint etc., so I thought this would be the perfect gift for him. I found it on a site earlier, but when I went back to purchase it was sold out. I decided to try Walmart, they had it for $40.00 less, free shipping from Site-To-Store, and you could have the chairs personalized. I jumped on it. Unfortunately, we live 5 hours away so we were unable to put it together before we arrived for his party. I’ll post a picture once my son-in-law puts it together.

I love the primary colors, and feel sure that he will get lots of use out of it. Most Matchbox and Hot Wheel cars fit the track, so we’re starting a collection for him. I’ve found that Big Lots carries the Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars for $1.00 each. Since he is only 2, I won’t feel bad if he loses one or two or three, lol. Once he gets older and can truly appreciate them, we’ll invest a little more in the collection.

If you know any place that sells the Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars for a reasonable price, please leave me a comment. If you don’t know where to purchase the cars, leave me a comment anyway. I would love to hear your opinion on this Great Find.

My Little Picasso – Crayola Paint Review

Look at my little Picasso, he’s creating a master piece. I decided to introduce Xavier to finger paints. He had a ball. I purchased the No Mess Crayola Finger Paint set and I loved it as much as he did. The paint showed up only on the paper. I did put an old sheet under him, I just had hardwood floors installed and I didn’t want to take any chances, but there was truly no mess.

The set comes with an adorable tray in the shape of a hand with 5 paint colors, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, and 12 double wide sheets of the Wonder paper. I like he fact that the hand is sturdy and stays in place on the table. The lids covering the paint are easy to open; however, for a 2 year old they will need assistance.
Xavier enjoyed sticking his fingers into the paint and was amazed when the colors magically appeared on the paper. He was so funny using the sponge. I tried to get him to wipe his fingers with it, but he wasn’t interested. I decided to show him how to sponge paint. He’s only 2, I didn’t think it would hold his interest. Wrong. He’s quite astute, and caught on quickly as to how he should dip the sponge into the paints and than apply it to the paper.

Here’s my Little Picasso taking a break. Painting makes baby thirsty. This set is recommended for 3+, but Xavier didn’t have a problem using the set. I like to challenge him with toys (as long as they don’t contain small parts), books etc. that are recommended for children a year or 2 older than he is. I believe it helps with a child’s advancement.

I would highly recommend this set to any parent who is looking for a rainy day activity or who just wants to expose their child’s creativity on paper. They have the Gel Paint refills, which includes the classic colors shown and additional tropical colors. Purchasing the set will be money well spent.

Construction Eating Utensils Review

Construction utensils. Yes, three of them and so cute. The set consists of a fork, spoon, and a pusher. We found them at Construtive Eating. I couldn’t resist, I just had to know more about these unique utensils. So, I contacted Jackie Malcolm, the creator, to give me a little insight as to how she came up with these fun items.

Jackie told us that these items were created as a result of her middle child, a boy, who was going through his construction phase. Jackie stated, “It was just one of those middle of the night ideas. Our third child was still very young and we spent many wakeful night hours just laying in bed, sleepless and thinking. It just dawned on me that construction machine utensils would really tickle his fancy”.

Jackie stated that her husband was an engineer, so he fine tuned the designs after local stores expressed an interest.

Constructive Eating has added a matching plate to their collection. I had the opportunity to review the plate, and I found the orange color stimulating. It’s divided into 4 section and contains a place to hold the fork, spoon and pusher. The bottom of the plate contains rubber, which keeps the plate from sliding. This is a great concept. The plate is a great buy at $14.95.

I absolutely love the utensils. The set consists of a fork, spoon and a pusher and the construction is superb. The construction is important to me, because my 18 month old grandson believes everything is made to be thrown. He’s learning to feed himself, so I thought this set would be perfect. When I gave him the spoon, he immediately pointed to his dump truck. He loves it. I carry it in my diaper bag now. He loves to eat his ice cream off it when we’re out and about. He also uses the fork for his corn, mac and cheese and Cheerios. Yes, he uses it for Cheerios too.

Be warned, these utensils are so cute your toddler won’t want to share. My grandson’s cousin visited and wanted to use his spoon at breakfast. Oh my, let the fun begin. Xavier wasn’t happy about sharing, so guess who will be buying a set of utensils for visiting cousins in the near future? The set is $19.95 and is available in pink and green.

I highly recommend this feeding set for a birthday or Christmas gift or a fun way to get your toddler to eat. We would love to know your thoughts on this set, so please leave us a comment.
