Since I’ve never seen your blog before, I have nothing to compare it to. What I can tell you is that I love purple and the skin of your blog is really adorable and easy on the eyes making your blog very inviting.
One thing I like about your site is the color scheme/placement. The text is still easy to read, the words are not too clumped together, but there’s also a good amount of color which doesn’t make the blog look too boring.

I don’t know much about blog design but I do know that I like a simple more streamlined approach with out a lot of clutter. I like a black font (which you have) colored fonts tend to be more difficult to read for a lot of people – especially when they are on a colored background.

I think your blog design is pretty cute. The purple-ish color is so cheerful! The only thing I would mention is how the post text is scrunched all the way over on the left. It might need a little breathing room… Easier said than done, I know. I lived with my blog being like that for several months before I figured out how to fix it. (And now I’ve forgot again.)
