Chef Remi Apple Slicer Review

Today, I’m sharing shopping tips and my review of the Chef Remi Apple Slicer.  My granddaughter and I love sliced apples, anytime.  I also give my grandchildren and their friends apple slices when they stay or have sleepovers.  They’re healthy and delicious.  So, I was offered a discount on the Chef Remi apple slicer.  As a result, I decided to take advantage of the offer.  I’ve always wanted an apple slicer and an apple corer, but but never felt compelled to spend the money on either.  Grandchildren change everything.

But, adding this tool to my kitchen stash would be a bonus.  It would make slicing apples so much easier. And, if you have children you know the importance of having everything even.  This includes apple slices, halving sandwiches and anything else.  As a result, I waited in anticipation of the arrival of the slicer.

While waiting for the arrival of my slicer, I visited my favorite farmer’s market.  Fall provides an opportunity to purchase a variety of delicious apples.  I love Honey Crisp for my snacks.  Unfortunately, I can rarely find them in the grocery store.  As a result, I look forward to fall so I can stock up.  My granddaughter’s favorite is Granny Smith.  But, whatever your favorite apple is purchase them.

Finally, my Chef Remi Apple Slicer arrived.  I removed the slicer from the packaging and washed it thoroughly.  One of the features that I loved on the apple slicer was the cushioned handles.  The cushioning gives it a nice feel, and allowed me to get a good grip.  Also, the slicer is ergonomically designed. The slicer cut and cored the apple with ease.  It is truly razor sharp.  It was like cutting butter and the slices are even.

Even apple slices was the goal, and I accomplished even apple slices.  When the other person gets more or bigger pieces, it makes life unfair.   Also, the slicer is perfect for cutting pears.  I did not try the slicer on the pears, but I plan to.  I’m a huge lover of pears too.  Another feature that I liked about the apple slicer is that lies flat for storage.  And, it’s so easy to clean by hand.

I hope you enjoyed my apple slicer review.  This particular apple slicer is not available, but I would highly recommend this apple slicer as a gift.  It’s very similar to my purchase.   It’s perfect for Christmas or for someone who has arthritis in their hands.  Also, it’s a great gift for a cook/baker.  For sure, mine will get great mileage.

Spiralizer Review: The Brieftons

Today, I’m sharing my review on the Brieftons Spiralizer.  This post contains affiliate links.  If a purchase is made, I made be compensated.  So, I was offered this Brieftons Spiralizer in exchange for an honest review.  I love hosting family gatherings and thought this would help create nice salads and party platter presentation.

This is my first Spiralizer.  So, I was excited when I received the product.  Unfortunately, it had to be put together.  Putting items together can be overwhelming for me at times.  But I had this baby assembled within 5 minutes.

The next step was figuring out what veggie to use with the spiralizer.  I decided to use a cucumber since I had a few on hand.  Because I cut the cucumber in half, my biggest struggle was figuring what end to put on the base to spiralize.  It left me wondering what end was up.  I finally realized that I needed to put the small end on the bottom and the larger end pointing toward the top.

The Spiralizer  left me with a beautiful ribbon of spiralized cucumbers.  The trick is to use firm veggies or fruits and to cut off both ends. The flat end of the fruit or vegetable must attach to the slicer; otherwise, the grabber won’t hold it.  The spiralizer recommends English cucumbers.  They’re a little firmer than regular cucumbers.  Guess what I will be adding to my summer garden?

First, lift the handle on the spiralizer and place your fruit or vegetable beneath it. Process the fruit or vegetable by turning the handle.  The plastic tray will catch your spiralized product.  I can’t wait to try other fruits and vegetables.  The spiralizer is great for garnishes, onion rings, spaghetti strands and more.  I love infused water, so spiralized fruits and veggies will look beautiful in my carafe.  My mouth is watering for a fresh cucumber salad this summer too.  Some of the fruit and vegetables recommended are: potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchinis, cukes, apples, and carrots.

The box contains a small brush for cleaning. It’s great for cleaning the blades and getting into corners of the spiralizer.  I rinsed with hot, soapy water.  Be care while cleaning, the blades are sharp.  Since I don’t have room on my counter for another product, I had to store the unit back in the box.  Removing the handle made it easy to store back in the box.

Also, the unit has suction cups on the bottom.  They help keep the spiralizer stable while your turning the handle to spiralize your veggies/fruit. I have one con from this Spiralizer review, I wish there was a storage cover for the blades when not in use.

The system is easy to wash.  I simply rinsed and than hand washed in soapy water.  Last, I recommend Brieftons Vertico Spiralizer. Head over and make a purchase today.  You may also like Brieftons Chopper.

This is my second chopper.  I’ve had my first chopper for years, so it was nice to review this Brieftons chopper. It was much larger than I expected.  A feature that I love.  I make home tomato sauce from my summer garden, so a twin cup chopper is perfect.  It also comes in handy when making homemade cookies during the holiday.  There’s a lot of chopping going on during those times for chocolate chip walnut cookies.  Using both cups make the needed ingredients a breeze to make.

My first chopper is electric, but this chopper is manual.  The white lever shown below is used to chop the ingredients. It was very easy to pull, and chopped the nuts to the desired consistency in no time.

Another great feature is that this chopper also grates and slices.  When using the chopper, it has two cups. Both contain blades, which doubles the amount of food that you can chop.  I love this idea for recipes that call for multiple chopped ingredients like onion and celery.  Making homemade salsa can be a chore.  My recipe requires chopped peppers, onions, and garlic.  This twin chopper is going to be a welcome asset in my kitchen during canning season.

If you need a Mandoline slicer look no further.  They are great for potato dishes, slicing onion and cucumbers, or orange and lemon slices.  It also grates fresh cheese.

While using the chopper, it remained in position. It’s a quality item that should last for quite a while.  The only safety concern that I have is the chopper blades.  Somehow I cut my finger while lifting one of the blades to wash them.  I have no idea how.  Thankfully, it was minor.

The system is easy to wash.  I simply hand washed in soapy water.  Last, I recommend the Brieftons QuickPull Food Chopper.  Head over and make a purchase today.
