Being a grandmother is one of the greatest joys of my life. It’s a role that’s quite different from when I was raising my daughter. I don’t know how to describe it, only to say that it’s special. I try hard not to cross lines that have been set by daughter and son-in-law as parents, but I set my own rules when they’re in my care.
I’m just as responsible for their upbringing as their mom and dad, but I’m more relaxed in this role. Maybe it’s because I was successful with my daughter, and I’m more confident as a parent now. I think most grandparents feel this way. I’m in a better financial position, I have more free time, and I have earned the title Grand. I wonder if that’s why we get the title grandma and granddad.
I was reading an interview with Jane Seymour on grandparents.com on grandparenting advice and wondered how many other celebrities were grandparents. Check out these celebrity grandparents:
- Goldie Hawn
- Michael Bolton
- Harrison Ford
- Marie Osmond
- Pierce Bronson
- Sally Fields
- Whoopie Goldberg
- Tom Hanks
- Martha Stewart
- Tony Danza
- Lionell Richie
- Martha Stewart
- Tina Turner
- Ron Howard (Opie Taylor)
- Gloria Estefan
@KC W – I have to agree. I love being a grandmother.
It is the best title ever!
