Looks Who’s Turning 2

Newborn – Heading to the Nursery

1st Birthday Party

Eating His Favorite Snack Last Week

It’s hard to believe that my little sweetie is turning 2 in a few weeks. I remember the day he came into this world like it was yesterday. I snapped the top photo of him when he was being taking to the nursery from the delivery room. My life changed forever at that moment, he truly became a part of my heart. There has not been one day that I have not thought about this precious baby boy in the past 2 years.

This is Gran holding him for the first time at the hospital. What a moment it was for me. He was the smallest little fellow. He weighted 5 lbs. 5 oz. I could hold him in the palm of my hand. Quite a difference from my 8 lb. daughter when she was born. I remember telling myself to be gentle, I guess I thought he would break. Everything we purchased was too big for him. Incredibly, the doctors told us that he was going to be a big baby. We were expecting him to weigh around 8 – 9 lbs. Didn’t happen. As you can see he had a head full of coal black hair, which my daughter claims caused pretty of heartburn. She too was born with a head full of hair.

It didn’t take Xavier long to make up for his weight deficit. He ate around the clock causing sleep deprivation for everyone in the household. He ended up being nicknamed Gran’s “Lil Butterball”. His legs had rolls of fat, nice little drumsticks for Gran to kiss on. I look at him and some days I see his mom. Other days I see his dad.

My beautiful daughter is pictured in the center photo at the top. She’s holding Xavier after he dived into the cake at his first birthday party. She’s the love of my life and she will always will be, but Xavier holds a special place. It’s a place that only a grandchild is allowed to enter into. There is nothing that I would not do for him. He brings so much joy into my life. I’ve heard other people talk about how great it is to be a grandparent, it’s so true. Although I want him to be raised properly, I know that I would allow him to get away with much more than I allowed my daughter to get away with. I have to restrain myself when she’s disciplining him. I just want to scoop him up and protect him from what I perceive to be harm. That includes Mean Ole Mommy and Daddy. Can you keep a secret? I purchased the set below for Xavier, it contains our secret code for Ole Mommy and Daddy. That’s right “Monster”. Remember it’s a secret. Can I trust you? Seriously, they are wonderful parents and would never bring harm to this little gem.

The past 2 years have been so wonderful and they’ve gone by so fast. We’re planning Xavier’s party for September 26th. Elmo and Xavier will be the stars. He adores Elmo and watches Sesame Street faithfully. Gran gets a reprieve this year, The Jumping Monkey will be the host. I believe the Jumping Money is popular in the southern states. I had never heard of it, and goggled it when my daughter announced the location. At first I was disappointed that we would not be doing the preparations, but now I’m looking forward to just purchasing a few gifts and enjoying Xavier and his guests. It will give me the opportunity to take lots of pictures for my next scrapbook.

The Jumping Monkey will furnish the cupcakes, plates, cups, etc. as well as the party favor bags, invitations, juice boxes and popcorn. They have games, ride on toys and bounce and ball pits for the kids. We’ll have pizza delivered and everyone should have a grand time. I know that I will.

I need to work on my skills so that I can video a few of the events. I tried videoing last week with my digital camera, OMG. I need serious help. Any suggestions from the video/vlog professionals? Please leave a few of your video tips.

I’m looking forward to my grandson’s 2nd birthday party. Stayed tuned for pictures of a few of my gifts and the party. How did you celebrate your child’s 2nd birthday? Fell free to share any of your memories.

A Parade of Horses

Welcome to my parade of horses. I found them along the streets of Ogden, UT. I travel to Ogden several times a year. It has become one of my favorite places to visit. The mountains are beautiful, the food is delicious, the people are warm and welcoming and the Marriott has the best beds. I’ll make the trip across country for these perks anytime.

When I walked into the Marriott lobby my usual spot to crash when I’m visiting, I spotted a replica of a horse with a beautiful painting on its body. I thought it was unique and decided to snap a photo to use for my Wordless Wednesday post. I thought nothing else of it after taking the picture.

The next day I went to lunch with a few co-workers and noticed replicas of full sized horses along the sidewalk as far as I could see. I was in awe! I love horses, and hope to own a few when I retire. One of the ladies stated that I should take a stroll when I returned to the hotel that evening and check them out. That’s exactly what I did, and I was not disappointed. They put on quite a show for visitors and residents alike. They were simply breathtaking. Some were on their hind legs and others in a grazing position. It was if they knew they were on display.

The horses could be found in a variety of colors and each displayed a magnificent scene. I saw everything from a 1966 yellow mustang to one covered in money. The horses were unveiled on July 3rd and will remain on display until October 1. The plan was to display 75 horses for Ogden Pioneer Days, but because of budget restraints only 55 are on display. Artists from across the country paint the horses and each has a sponsor. It takes as much work to display the horses as it does to paint them. Twenty people were needed for two days to secure the horses to concrete bases and set them in their locations.

I couldn’t get enough, I walked for blocks. As I was viewing the horses, I wondered what inspired the artists. Each horse has the artist’s name and the sponsor listed beneath it. I wondered what I would have painted on my canvass if I had the ability to paint. I thought maybe the Ben Lomond or Mt Ogden mountains that stood so majestically in the background. A trained filled with children rolled by, and I thought maybe I would have painted a choo choo full of children or the historical buildings that lined the streets. I admired the colors, they were so warm and bright and every hue imaginable could be found on the horses. You could hear the children’s excitment when they saw the horses. I giggled as I watched them run toward them. That’s exactly what I wanted to do, but as an adult I maintained control. Damn, I hate being a grown up at times. I wanted to let the child within out.

It was a fascinating stroll. With a heavy heart I bid Ogden farewell. I’ll be heading back east, but it’s surprises like this that keep me coming back and come back I will. You can count on it.

You Cheating Bastard

Several days ago, a friend confided that her husband was cheating on her. When I asked her how she knew, she stated that she had hired an investigator and she had photos of her husband with the other woman. As I listened, I thought about several pictures that I had seen from women who had been cheated on. I thought you would get a good laugh or idea from these photos.

Relationship experts site the following reasons for cheating in a relationship. In my opinion, there’s no excuse or reason for a cheating spouse or mate, nevertheless, here are the top 10 reasons:

  1. They Had The Option
  2. Ego Boost
  3. Individuals In The Relationship Are Growing Apart
  4. They’ve Fallen Out Of Love
  5. Continuous Arguing
  6. Sex Life Is Boring
  7. To Get Revenge
  8. It’s New, Different, and Exciting
  9. To See If They Can Get Away With It
  10. You Allow It

I thought about what I would do if my significant other was cheating on me. I could really see myself taking these steps.  I love all of the photos, especially Photo 1 and 4. What a perfect way to advertise the fact that you have a cheating husband. I would have loved to see both of their faces when they saw the display.  I love the clothing hanging from the tree in photo 1.

What would you do if you found out your husband/significant other was cheating on you?  Which of the photos is your favorite?  Leave us a comment and let us know your thoughts.

Cinnamon Buns As An Arousal?

Do you think you can arouse your man with the smell of cinnamon buns? I don’t mean getting him to the table for breakfast, we all know that we can accomplish that. According to Woman’s World magazine, research has shown that the smell of cinnamon buns arouse men.
When I read the article, I laughed. I thought that I had a better chance using real cinnamon buns.  I pictured myself covered with the sticky, gooey buns, and concluded that a few cinnamon buns just might work and I wouldn’t have to get too creative. The article also mentioned licorice and chocolate.

I was ready to test the theory until I pictured the sticky buns ruining my sheets and down comforter.  I quickly remembered Bath and Body used to sell a Cinnamon Bun body wash and lotion, and I thought just maybe I could get the same reaction with just the aroma of cinnamon buns. Unfortunately, the Cinnamon Bun body wash and lotion is no longer available because it was a holiday edition. I did Google Cinnamon Bun body wash/lotion and it is available several places on e-bay.  I bid a few times, but I have yet to be declared a winner.

I did find a whipped chocolate body butter on Etsy.  My pedicurist turned me on when she used it during one of my pedicures. I absolutely love it and so does my significant other.

If you’re looking to spice up your relationship try a chocolate, cinnamon bun or licorice body lotion or body wash.

This Red Dress Was Designed for Skinny Bitches

Check out the new dress that Delta Airline flight attendants will be wearing.  Nice!  My significant other is a pilot, I’m glad he doesn’t work for Delta Airlines, lol.  The dress is attractive and it will definitely catch the attention of everyone in the airport, but some of the flight attendants have filed a grievance.  Not because it’s sexy or it’s red, because the dress only goes up to a size 18.  What about the plus size attendants?  Why is this beautiful uniform made for the skinny bitches only and the larger women are being told to wear pieces including slacks, tops and blue dresses that are currently made in larger sizes.  Big woman want to look sexy too.
The dress is not your typical flight uniform, it carries a designer label.  The designer decided to not make the uniform in a size larger than 18.  Delta and Northwest airlines have merged.  Delta was basically non-union; however, Northwest was heavily unionized.  As a result, the flight attendants decided to file a grievance.  I had several questions when I read the article:
  • Why would an airline purchase a uniform that could not be worn by all of their attendants?
  • Because the dress size stopped at a size 18, didn’t they know that they could possibly face a discrimination suit?
  • Discrimination causes a hostile work environment.  I certainly do not want to be on a flight where a hostile work environment has been created because one attendant is wearing the sexy red uniform and stilettos and another is wearing the mundane blue uniform.
Do you think the dress should be made to fit all attendants?  Normally, the flight attendants uniforms go up to a size 28.  Not making the uniform in a size larger than 18 leaves quite a few women out of the new uniform.
Let us know your thoughts and if you think Delta is discriminating against plus size women.

My Fish Pedicure Was Wonderful

Have you ever had your feet nibbled on by little fish? It’s amazing! I had a Fish Pedicure tonight and I can’t believe how soft and beautiful they are. I’m rubbing my man’s legs with my feet, and he’s enjoying them as much as I am. I wouldn’t have dreamed of brushing my calloused feet up and down his legs last night. My feet were dreadful. I think they scared the manicurist when she saw them today. I’m a high heel and boot wearer, and my feet show it after the winter months. When the weather breaks, I treat myself to pedicures regularly. I start off the season with a Fish Pedicure. I’m telling you, it’s so relaxing. Once you have one, you’ll make an appointment for another before you leave the salon.
Yvonne’s Hair and Nail Salon in Alexandria, VA is the only place in the country that uses this method. Yvonne’s has been featured on The View, CNN, and in major newspapers around the country. Her shop is 1 1/2 hours away from me, but it’s so worth the trip. I usually schedule a manicure, The Fish Pedicure as well as their regular pedicure when I go. The Fish Pedicure consists of a 15 or 30 minute foot soak in a tank full of tiny carp, who eat off the dead skin. The carp had their work cut out for them today, I choose the 30 minute session. My feet are as smooth as a baby’s butt now.
The salon serves wine, water or soft drinks while you’re indulged. Between the wine and the carp nibbling at your toes, there is alot of giggling going on. They also wrap a warm and soothing towel around your neck to help you relax. Next, they bring trays of lotions and salts for you to smell and than choose your pleasure. The flavors consist of citrus, sea breeze, cappuccino, and lavender. They’re used to massage your feet and legs after the pedicures. I choose the citrus this time.
Once your Fish Pedicure is completed, they move you into a massage chair. Your back, butt, and thighs are massaged while they continue to buff your feet. Once that is completed, they lay you completely back in the chair, oil your feet and wrap them in plastic for 5 – 10 minutes to allow the oil to pentrate. They buff them again to ensure they’ve removed all layers of dead skin. You are truly pampered from head to toe. My feet feel like I’ve lost 30 lbs off of them. Oh, how I wish that were true for the rest of me. I was driving home thinking, how light they felt. I have an appointment for a regular pedicure in two weeks. I can’t wait to go back.
This technique has been used in Turkey and Asian countries for years. The owners of Yvonne’s Hair and Nails decided to try the technique in the States and it became a major success. Approximately, 10,000 women from across the country have taken the plunge. It’s an experience that you won’t forget. If you’re ever in the area, you must make an appointment.

This Murder’s Friend Contacted Me

I had an interesting response to the review of this book, Out Of Control. On Thursday, January 29, I received an email response from Amy Redus. Amy stated that she and Clara Harris were best friends. Needless to say, I was shocked. I always look forward to comments on my posts, but to have someone respond that is connected to the murder was totally unexpected.

I’ve asked myself if it would be unethical to share my conversation with Amy with my readers, and I’ve concluded that it is not. I have removed her email address. My blog and the comments made are open to everyone. Also, Ms. Redus stated that her intentions was to post a comment on the blog as you will see below.

Here’s Ms. Redus comment:

Hi Rhonda,
I enjoyed your blog and tried to post on it but am not sure if I was successful or not. I saw that you had read Out of control by Steven Long. I am just wondering what you though of Clara Harris before and after reading his book? I read the book also and thought he did a pretty good job.
Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for stopping by. I really didn’t know Clara Harris before reading the book except what I had heard on Oprah, so I hadn’t formed an opinion. After reading the book, I believed she was a scorned woman who lost sight of what was really important. God, herself, and her children. If a man chooses to stray, there’s nothing you can do to stop him. You can loose weight, color your hair, buy new clothes, but that won’t change his direction if he decides that’s how it’s going to be.

I can understand her anger and frustration. She built a million dollar business with this man, helped raise his daughter, gave him twins and maintained his home. It had to be difficult to face the fact that he was willing to throw it away for the Office Assistant. I would have fought back in the court room, but it wouldn’t have been for murder. He would have been facing adultery charges.

We as women forget, that a man can’t make us or break us unless we allow him. She could have moved on with the business, home, children and someone who really appreciated her. Now she has nothing, but a life behind bars. Such a sad situation for the children.

You are right, only one thing she didn’t mean to kill him. She wanted to stop him from leaving with her. She knew Gail or had heard Gail was lesbian and knew that she was just after David’s money. She meant to run into gails car and just lost it. She was just at her breaking point. She happens to be my best friend and I know that in her right mind she would never in her right mind even hurt David. You were right again and she says her priorities were out of line. To her David was her King/God she thought he was everything so when he betrayed her like that it was very emotional. Even David’s mother who is like a moo to me says Clara loved David too much. I was just curious about what you though. Oprah went to Mountain view to interview Clara not really liking Clara but mainly going for the story. She left the interview with a better understanding of her emotional state.
Yes things would have been so much easier if she would have just left that night but she did Allow David to break her and something in her snapped and she lost control of the situation. She has lost everything but she has gained a deeper relationship with God, her friends and many people He has sent to help her through this time. She has served 6 years and we are in the beginning stages of looking for a parole attorney for her.
Amy

I sent another response to Amy. I didn’t agree with everything she stated in her response, so I had to voice my opinion on several of her statements. I’m currently waiting for her comment.

While waiting for Ms. Redus response, I decided to check her out. I probably shoud have done that before my initial response, lol. Anyway, I googled Ms. Redus and she is truly connected to Clara Harris. According to the transcripts on CNN Connie Chung interviewed Ms. Redus on January 23, 2003. According to Connie Chung, Amy stated that she just knew Clara Harris through church. From reading the transcript, it doesn’t appear that Amy knew Clara Harris very well.

My search on Yahoo turned up additional information. From that search, it would appear that Ms Redus and Clara Harris have established a closer relationship. Amy Redus speaks of Clara Harris at Friends For Clara Harris and another site also entitled Friends For Clara Harris.

I’m unsure if I will hear from Amy Redus again, but I welcome her comments and I’m striving for an interview with her regarding her friendship with Clara Harris and the site The Friends Of Clara Harris and their cause. Inspite of our different view points of Clara Harris’ actions, I believe that we have connected for a reason. I will keep each of you in the loop, and I welcome your comments on this post.

5 Reasons You Should Not Loan Friends Money

Would you lend a friend $5,000?  How about $3,000? Frankly, I don’t think it’s wise to lend family or friends money. I’ve done it twice in the pass and I was repaid, but it wasn’t thousands of dollars like this request. I once helped a friend out of a bad marriage and another time to help a friend get back on her feet after she put her mother in a nursing home.  The second friend tried to make it a habit, I ended that.

Why am I leery this time? Could it be because it’s a male or the size of the request? To be honest, I have a hard time with a man asking me for money. Especially large sums of money. So maybe it’s both. When he asked me to lend him the money, I really wanted to ask if he saw a sign that stated The Bank of Rhonda in my front yard. What irritates me is this person lives in a 4,000 square foot house, drives a luxury vehicle but is unable to pay their bills. Did I mention they took a vacation overseas?

Do you know the quote: “I don’t loan money because it causes amnesia.”  – Unknown  Yes, I love it and here’s a few other reasons why I don’t believe it’s a good idea to loan family or friends money:

1.  It’s rare that family or friends will repay the money –  Friends and relatives believe that they really don’t have to pay you back because of the friendship or the fact that you’re family.

2.  Help people don’t enable them – Offer to help the person with their finances rather than loaning them money. It may be want they want, but it could be what they need.

3.  Loaning money can jeopardize your relationship – Many friendships/relationships end because money is not repaid. Assess whether your relationship is more important than the money.

4.  If the priorities are wrong, it won’t be a priority to repay you –  If a person is not paying bills timely or being financially responsibility, you won’t be a priority either.

5. Your finances could be harmed –  If the money you loan is not paid back, it could potentially harm you financially. You could use that money for emergencies or to have a saving for future hardships.

Most people can’t afford to loose money, so assess your relationship and decide whether money is worth ending your relationship over. Nearly 57% percent of friendships or relationships end because money is not repaid.

Your Penis Is Mine!

Your penis is mine, your penis is mine, your penis is mine. Do I have your attention? I wanted to share this post with you because I believe the world is becoming more insane each day. I’m thinking that maybe I’m seeing it as insane because I’ve finally matured and gathered my senses, and when people do things out of the ordinary it gets my attention. You ask what’s out of the ordinary? How about setting your husband’s penis on fire.

A 44 year old Australian woman is accused of just that. She saw her husban hug another woman last week and became jealous. She poured an alcohol based substance on him as he slept, set him on fire and he died from the injuries. She wanted to burn his penis to let him know that it was hers. She stated, “I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else. … I didn’t mean this to happen.”

Now think about that statement. Let it penetrate slowly. Where is it written that you set your husband’s penis on fire to claim it? Couldn’t she have claimed it by whispering “it’s mine” in his ear in a moment of passion? Hell, she could have claimed it over bacon & eggs on the kitchen table, but to rationalize setting her husband on fire is beyond my comprehension.

Well she rationalized it. When her husband realized he was on fire, he jumped out of bed knocking the alcohol based substance over, which caused the fire to spread. It eventually razed their house and their neighbor’s. He later died from his injuries. She has now been charged with his murder.
Becoming insecure when you think your husband may be giving his affection and attention to another would be natural. But wouldn’t you simply ask who the woman was that he was hugging rather than burn his penis. Now, if he didn’t come back with the right answer one of us would have been out the door and his next conversation would have been with an attorney. Some things are not negotiable with me and sharing my man is one of them. I would hope that my husband would introduce me to whoever it was that he was hugging, especially if I was standing there. If he made the mistake of not introducing me, we would have a serious conversation.

On that note, what happened to people engaging in verbal conversations and discussing whatever is happening with each other? Has society lost the ability to converse? The only thing that I can think of that would cause me to become violent is someone trying to hurt my children. You will see the claws come out and a bitch rearing her ugly head. I could loose all sense of right and wrong on that one. But a penis, I’m just not willing to go to jail for.

Between this post and the one where the husband is demanding his kidney back from his ex-wife I’m just beside myself. I pray for the world in which we live. Would love to know your thoughts on this post.

I Want My Kidney Back, Tramp

Dr. Richard Batista donated his kidney to his wife, Dawnell, in 2001.

Yes, you read the title right. There’s a nasty divorce going on, and one party wants their kidney back. Lets look at the players in this saga, Dr. Richard Batista and his wife Dawnelle, a nurse. The plot, Richard Batista wants the kidney back that he donated to his soon to be ex-wife. The soon to be ex-wife will most likely die if she doesn’t keep the kidney. If she doesn’t give the kidney back, Dr. Batista wants her to cough up (no pun intended) $1.5 million as a part of the divorce settlement.

In June 2001, Dr. Batista donated a kidney to his wife after two other transplants failed. Dr. Batista claims that he donated his kidney to save his wife’s life and to turn their marriage around. The marriage had been suffering as a result of his wife’s medical problems. The kidney transplant was successful; however, it failed to hold the marriage together as Dr. Batista had hoped. In 2005, Dawnell Batista, filed for divorce.

Dr. Batista states that it was a wonderful experience donating his kidney and he would do it again. He only regrets the marriage. Do I sense a lack of sincerity here? If he was sincere, why is he is asking for the kidney back? His wife obviously needed the organ to sustain her life or she wouldn’t have needed the transplant. A surgeon certainly understands this. He also knows that if his ex-wife gives the kidney back, she either goes on dialysis or dies waiting for another donor and another possible transplant failure. Did I mention, the recipient is the mother of his three daughters ages, 8, 11, and 14.

Why is this bitter divorce happening after such a loving and courageous act? Dawnelle Batista had an affair. That’s right after everything her husband did, she betrayed him. According to Dr. Batista, she became so healthy after the kidney transplant she started taking karate lessons. She became good enough to earn a black belt. She injured herself, and starting taking physical therapy. She also starting sleeping with the physical therapist. Tramp!

Dr. Batiste’s ego won’t allow him to get over the fact that his wife had an affair and moved on. He’s a surgeon, lives in a million dollar home, he’s a devoted father, and was a faithful husband. Dr. Batiste said the pain that his wife put him through was unbearable. Now I don’t condone anyone stepping outside of their marriage and I’m sure the good doctor’s pain is real, but must she pay for her indiscretion with her life? According to Dr. Bastiste, she’s going to pay one way or another. Either she gives the kidney back or she pays him $1.5 million dollars for the kidney. Is he enraged or what?

I’ve tried to imagine the conversation with his three daughters. Sit down girls, daddy wants to talk to you. Your mother had an affair, and now daddy wants his kidney back. Now that tramp, your mother, may die as a result, but let the chips fall where they may.  I only donated the kidney so we could keep the marriage together. Now that it has fallen apart, I want her to pay with her life. Whoa!

Now lets step way out there and discuss what’s he going to do with the kidney if she does give it back. Place it on a mantle like a trophy and gloat that he won. She’ll regret divorcing me when she’s on her death bed. Look kids, see what daddy retrieved from your worthless mother. His reason for taking this sick fight public, he’s tired of trying to negotiate with her and there have been times that she’s kept the children from him. I wonder why?
The good news is that experts believe that Dr. Batista has a very slim chance of getting his kidney back, and he’s just making a fool out of himself. On another note, I believe that Dr. Batista donating a kidney to his wife is an admiral act. I don’t know what went through his mind when he made his decision, but I’m sure he thought that his wife would truly have a part of him forever. I have to wonder if he told his wife his reasons for donating the kidney, to sustain her life and to turn their marriage around. If he did, his reasons obviously didn’t mean much to her.
I’ve seen Dr. Batista on the news, a very educated and handsome man who can surely find someone who can and will appreciate him with his one kidney now. My advice Dr. Batista, let her have the other kidney and move on with your life. She still has your children to raise regardless of her character.  Also, I would suggest that you move on because she is now considered a deadly weapon is capable of kicking your ass.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this bitter divorce and the Dr.’s demand for the return of his kidney .
