Happy 4th of July

Yum Yum. Here’s a simple and delicious 4th of July recipe:

  • 2 pints of fresh strawberries
  • 1 recipe of your favorite white or yellow cake (mix or from scratch, your choice)
  • 1 1/3 C of fresh blueberries
  • 1 tub of whipped topping:

Serves 12
Mix up and bake your favorite cake mix or recipe. Let cool.
Slice 1 cup of strawberries, set aside. Halve remaining strawberries, set aside.
Top cake (in pan) with 1 cup sliced strawberries, 1 cup blueberries and all of the whipped topping. Arrange remaining strawberry halves and blueberries on whipped topping to create a flag design. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Add a sparkler for a dramatic effect. Enjoy!post signature

  6. What a cute idea! I saw something like that with raspberries instead of strawberries in the July issue of Parents magazine! I think it’s such a great idea…it’s very likely I’ll do that if we end up going anywhere for the 4th!

I like the sparkler addition, too.

  7. looks delicious!  May have to give it a try as strawberries up here in Maine are plentiful right now.  Never thought to add a sparkler though, bet my daughter would love that, thanks for the great idea!
