Let It Snow!

First snow of 2012.  Yes, we had a white Christmas.  Unfortunately, I missed it.  I celebrated the holiday at the beach this year.  Rainy, but no snow.   I love fresh snowfall as long as I don’t have to drive in it.  The earth is covered with a fresh white blanket.  Days like this, I always make a pot of chili or vegetable soup.  Nothing like curling up with a hot bowl of either and watching old  movies.  That fluffy whiteness has a calming effect on me.

Hope you’re enjoying your Saturday.  Stay tuned for my Christmas post, and I hope yours was as enjoyable as mine.

Mini Sausage Wreath

Mini- Sausage Wreath

Ingredients:

– Mini sausages
– Refrigerated crescent dough rolls
– Red bell pepper
– 1/3 cup butter
– Rosemary for seasoning
– ½ cup BBQ sauce
– ½ cup whole berry cranberry sauce

Directions:

1.  Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the crescent dough rolls package.
2.  Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate at the perforations to create 4 rectangles. Press together the remaining perforations in each rectangle.
3.  With a knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle into 8 strips (for a total of 32 strips).
4.  Wrap each mini sausage in a strip of dough. Lay out the crescent-wrapped sausages in a wreath formation with their sides touching on an ungreased cookie sheet.
5.  Bake for 11-15 minutes or until golden brown.
6.  While the wreath is baking, combine the BBQ sauce and cranberry sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until heated through. Serve with wreath for dipping.
7.  Melt butter and brush the butter on top of the wreath. Sprinkle with rosemary.
8.  Cut a red bell pepper into a bow shape for garnish.

A Flower in the Snow Book Give Away

I love reading, and I’ve tried to instill reading into my daughter’s and grandchildren’s life.  Reading aloud to children helps with vocabulary, literacy and gets them to use their imagination as they’re listening to the story and looking at the pictures.  Thirty four years later, my daughter is still an avid reader and my 5 year old grandson still loves MaMa to read bedtime stories.  We love reading on cold and snowy days too.

When asked to review the children’s book, A Flower in the Snow, by Sourcebooks, I was thrilled.  In essence, the book is about friendship. Luna and her polar bear friend, Bear, discover a beautiful gold flower growing in the snow.  But when the flower fades, Bear goes on a search around the world for another to bring to Luna.  It’s only when he returns home that the true strength of their friendship is revealed.

The book is hardback and beautifully illustrated with vivid colors.  It is appropriate for ages 4 – 8 and has 32 pages.  The story teaches children that friendship is more important than things.  It also teaches children that it’s okay to miss someone and feel sad when they’re away.  To check out this book and others visit, A Flower in the Snow on the Sourcebooks site.  The book is available for $16.99.

Mother 2 Mother is giving away a copy of A Flower in the Snow.  Here’s how you can win.  Leave us a comment on this post telling us who you will giving this adorable book to.

Jessica Alba Baby Line

Are these disposable diapers adorable or what?  Mother 2 Mother is constantly searching for unique items to bring to our readers.  We discovered the Jesscia Alba baby line.  These adorable diapers are available for purchase from her company Honest.  They are printed with lead-free inks, and made mostly from plant-based and sustainable materials.   The price point isn’t bad, cost is based on size as in all disposal diapers.  For example, you get 40 Newborn for $13.95 plus $5.95 shipping cost.  I love the different designs that you can choose from.  Look at the sweets diaper, it has ice cream cones, lolipops, and candy.  Imagine a baby with that little sweet booty.

Jessica offers a full line of organic, eco-friendly baby products.  She has 70 wipes for $4.95 a pack, which I thought was a good deal if your ordering other products.  Training pants, swimmies and she offers bath and body products as well as household products.

Jessica started her line when she was unable to find eco-friendly products for her own children, Honor and Haven.  The only draw back that I see is, customers must sign up on Honest.com and choose a subscription package.  Your products are delivered monthly.  I’ve never been big on this type of service.  I may decide that I want to purchase something different during a particular month; however, I would not be able to do that if I’m commited to Honest.

If this type of service and product appeals to you, check out Honest.com

Adorable Rain Gear For Toddlers

I purchased this adorable frog rain set for my grandson several months ago.  We had taken him and my granddaughter to The Picture People for photos, and they had this adorable Kidorable set as a prop.  I couldn’t get my grandson out of it.  Each time we walked toward him, he would take off running.  Finally I bargained,  I told him that I would purchase a set for him if he would take it off so we could leave.  Now, I normally don’t bargain with my grandchildren, but since I had fallen in love with it too it was a win-win situation.  I found the set at Amazon.  Depending on size, the rain boots are up to $32.00, the umbrella $13.00, and the jacket up to $30.00.

Kidorable also has the set in ladybug, fireman, dinosaur, and a pirate to name a few.  This set would make a great birthday or Christmas gift.  The boots are perfect for those rainy days ahead and the umbrella is just as adorable.  This will surely generate a few giggles too.

We know your time is precious, so we surfed the net for the best price.  You can purchase these great gift ideas at Macy’s.  They have 20% off the set.

Isn’t my grandson adorable in his froggy gear?
