Mother of the Bride Wedding Roles and Responsibilities

Today, I’m sharing parenting tips on mother of the bride roles.  There are many mother of the bride roles.  I don’t think many people think of those responsibilities and duties that mom handles for her daughter’s wedding. So, it’s a big day for a mom too.  Planning a wedding takes a lot of effort.  So remember, before calling anyone else you should call your mom.  She can help you take care of every detail during the planning phase, and will do it without hesitation.  Most importantly, don’t forget mother of the bride dresses.  Mom wants to and deserves to look as pretty at your wedding too.

Mother of the Bride

Mother of the bride roles:

1. Help with the Wedding Shopping:

Yes, your mother is the only one who can help and guide you during the shopping phase for your wedding.  Take her along and ask her opinion.  She wants the best for you, so she will never go wrong.  While shopping for your dresses, shop for mother of the bride dresses as well.

2. Helping the Bride to Get Ready:

A mother of the bride helps her daughter ready for her big day.  A mother knows what colors looks best on her daughter, what makeup looks best on her, and what type of dress can flatter her figure the most.  No one in the world can offer help like mom!

mother of the bride roles

3. Hosting the Wedding Reception:

The main responsibility of a mother of the bride is hosting her princess’ wedding reception.  She is the one who greets the guests and plans the theme for the party. She will also sit in front of  her daughter during the wedding ceremony.

Because the mother of the bride is the hostess at her child’s wedding, she has to look her best as well. She is the key person at the wedding after the bride.  Efforts should also be made towards purchasing gorgeous mother of the bride dresses.

mother of the bride roles

4. Communicating and Coordinating with the Groom’s Family:

Another responsibility of the mother of the bride is to communicate effectively with the groom’s family members. She has to ensure that everyone has a good time at the party and there are no complaints.

There are times when conflicts arise between both families, so it is the mother of the bride who ensures everything goes smoothly.

5. Looking Her Best:

The mother of the bride must look her best at the wedding too.  She should feel confident and happy from inside.  And, when a person looks good, she feels confident.  As a result, don’t diminish the mother of the bride dresses when you go shopping.

There are several options available in beautiful gold mother of the bride dresses that are trending.  Depending on her comfort and style, she can choose one. Gold mother of the bride dresses provides a classy and glamorous look at a wedding.

Conclusion:

So, these are some of the duties of the mother of the bride at her child’s wedding.  Apart from these, she has to always encourage her daughter and ensure that the vibes are position.  And, ensure the bride is happy and smiling all the time.

First, we created a word search puzzle.  It’s filled with words connected to Alaska and should give you ideas to start a conversation about animals and activities in the state.  You can also find information on the Alaska Fact Sheet.  These are great activities for homeschooling or extra homework lessons.

Alaska Educational Activities

Incorporate additional facts into the lesson plan. For example, what are glaciers?  Discuss the state flower, the Forget-Me-Not.  And, how the state bird, the Willow Ptarmigan, turns from brown and white to all white during the winter.  In addition to the word search and history sheet, we included coloring pages and a writing exercise.

Have fun coloring this fun picture of Alaska’s state bird the Willow Ptarmigan.  The Ptarmigan is a short, stocky bird that reminds you of a chicken or goose.   So, the Willow Ptarmigan became Alaska’s official state bird in 1955.

Next, Alaska’s state flower is the Forget Me Not.   It became the official state flower until 1917.  The beautiful blue petals and yellow centers make these flowers a standout.

Last, Alaska’s official insect is the Four-Spotted-Skimmer Dragonfly.  You can discuss the beautiful black bears roaming Alaska.  There are an estimated 100,000 black bears in Alaska.  The black bear is the smallest bear in North America.

Game Day Activities for Kids

Today, I’m sharing parenting tips on game day activities for kids.  Super Bowl Sunday or any game day for that matter is the perfect time for gathering with family and friends. In reality, most game day activities are centered around adults.  Unfortunately, that leaves the kids wondering around and searching for things to do.  Video games are readily available; however, I’m all for intellectual stimulation.

game day activities for kids

So, I created these game day activities for the older kids.  There’s a Football Unscramble Game that uses  football terms including turnover, tackle, touch down, cheerleaders and more.  It also includes an answer key.

Another one of our game day kid’s activity is a football crossword puzzle.  It’s challenging, and will keep your football player/lover busy while you’re finishing the gameday menu or other festivities.

If your child needs to work on their writing and grammar, we have writing game day activity for kids.  The activity will require the participant to write sentences using football terminology.  This would be a great group activity too, so print off several copies.

Our last game day kid’s activities is a word search football terminology.  It contains around 20 of the most used football terms.  My 13 year old grandson loves word search puzzles.  It’s a football player too!

Set up a card table or area where the kids can play these games along with a few game day snacks.  These games are perfect for adults too.  My 6’2 240 pound son-in-laws loves working word search puzzles.  Form teams, and give out prizes to the first team who completes the Unscramble and Crossword Puzzle Games.  Or, you can print these activities to keep your guess busy while you finishing up snack trays.  Or, use them to keep the kids busy while you’re mingling and entertaining friends.  They will love the game day challenges and involvement in game day.  Download the printables here.

Helping Your Child Grow Confidence Through Competence

If there’s one thing you can state with absolute certainty about the life of a parent, it’s that they have many different roles.  When raising a child, there are a certain amount of notes you need to hit correctly.  Most of these will come through instinct.  Today, we’re sharing parenting tips on helping your child build confidence.   Be a caring parent, encouraging and supportive will have an enormous impact by itself.  However, there are other responsibilities including teaching children how to brush their teeth.  Or, being firm with their bedtimes to encourage a healthy sleeping pattern.

parenting tips

Every child is different, but many children have universal needs. One of these will be the need to have their confidence slowly grow over time. A child without confidence can become extremely fearful of trying to express themselves.  This can lead to negative self-belief.   Unfortunately, some parents do little to address this. Helping your children grow confidence should be considered one of the most important gifts you can bestow on them.  However, simply telling your child they can do no wrong is the quickest way to raising a wanting person.  Instead, show them they can be competent while being humble.

With these tips you will be helping your child grow confidence:

Martial Arts

One way to help your child grow confidence is martial arts.   Martial arts can often help a child grow and feel more comfortable in their bodies. The emphasis here isn’t to help them turn into a Bruce Lee.  Additionally, it is not to fight off other children in the schoolyard with flips and cat screeches. Instead, it’s to build a sense of character, to learn safety in exercise, and yes, how to defend themselves if need be. However, most practitioners and trainers will not teach your child the ins and outs of causing harm.  Rather, they will teach them how to respect others.

Furthermore, they will learn how to avoid any form of conflict in the best manner possible while keeping their respect. For example, most martial arts sensei’s will ask a hypothetical question.  For example, how you should defend yourself if your wallet is asked for by a violent thug.  They may suggest giving them the wallet peacefully.  After all, this is the most rational and reasonable method of walking away from something without being harmed.  Besides, you can always find another wallet.

While this particular lesson might not apply completely to your child right now, it demonstrates what goes into martial arts tuition.  Not only is it a social environment, but it can also helps them feel confident.  It teaches them correct technique.  Additionally, it helps them to proceed up the colored belt hierarchy.  They will learn how to bow and show respect to authority.  Furthermore, they will learn to be grateful and how to best orchestrate themselves.  Martial arts can help even the most withdrawn child come out of their shell.  So, we recommend Karate, Jiu Jitsu, or even the child-friendly forms of Kung-Fu.

Care & Consideration

Giving your child the space to care about something can help them learn self-reliance and care outside of the school environment.  Helping your child grow confidence with a pet is perhaps one of the best methods.  Hamsters, Gerbils and bunnies make great pets.  Something low-key with low maintenance is recommended rather than a puppy that must be trained. However, if you have the time to devote a puppy is a great idea.

If pets are out of the question, working on an art project together is recommended.  It could be model construction or painting a mural.  Creating is a great way to become self-reliant, becoming expressive and helping children feel proud of themselves.

confidence in children

Sports

Sports can be an extremely wonderful method of helping a child grow.  While martial arts and artistic projects can help them learn how to be confident, they don’t offer much in the form of team work.  Don’t force your child into anything, but try to see where their natural inclination goes.  Perhaps purchasing backyard batting cages could help them learn how to hit the ball with precision and confidence.

You might decide to help them enroll in an after-school activity.  Or, teach them how to play pool on the table in the garage. It doesn’t matter what the sport is or how much energy they exert.  What’s important is that they enjoy it.  The goal is to teach them how to feel good at something.  And, how you help them feel involved with it. Sports can sometimes be disparaged as forcing sensitive children into physical activity.  But sometimes it can help a sensitive child to get past their fears and become self-assured. Of course, every child is different.  But sometimes, a little risk can go a long way.

Implement these tips, and you will certainly be on your way to helping your child grow confidence through competence.

Frugal Ways to Continue Your Education in Adulthood

Continuing Education Tips

You are a mom with young children, but you want to do more than just care for them.  So, you may be thinking of continuing education. However, you are concerned about the way the workplaces have changed.  Furthermore, you want to get new qualifications to help you get back into the workforce.  Attending a  college physically may be difficult with your family commitments.  As a result, let’s take a look at ways you can further your education without leaving the comfort of your own home.

Continuing Education Tips

Online Courses

Taking classes are a great way to earn qualifications. For instance, you want to obtain an online bachelors degree in business administration.  You would be able to study when the children are in bed or when they are at school.  Ideally, you can fit it in to suit your lifestyle, and work at your own pace.

Online courses are also cheaper than a physical college.  But, you will still have the same support from tutors with virtual meetings between you, them and other students.  Technology has made this possible.  And, there are not many colleges or universities that do offer the majority of their courses as an online option.

YouTube

YouTube can be really good for continuing your education.  Especially, for things like learning other languages or getting up to date with the technological advances.  You can brush up on your math, learn more about science or maybe watch some cake decorating videos.  You could start your own business decorating cakes for other people’s special occasions.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a great resource for learning more about any subject you can think of.  It is good for children as well as adults, and has tests that you have to complete to ensure you understood the lesson.

You work at your own pace and it is all completely free of charge. Khan Academy has had more than 300 million views, which must please Sal Khan who founded it.

Code Academy

If you would like to work in website development, graphic design or marketing, Code Academy could be the ideal resource for you.  Code Academy is a great way for people to learn more about coding languages such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby. They use interactive lessons for the fundamentals.  It’s a brilliant way to get started with the basics.

There is no end of online resources that you can use to further your education while still being a mom to your children. Many of them are free, and even the ones that you do have to pay for are not overly expensive.

You may not feel you have the time, but you must make time.  You will be surprised what you can accomplish once you start with continuing education.

5 Reasons to Design a Family Cookbook

First, I lost one of my favorites aunts, my mother’s sister, a few years ago.  As a result, I wanted to do a tribute in her honor.  So, I put together a cook book filled with recipes from family, friends, and co-workers.  I’m so happy with how it turned out.  As a result, I wanted to share a few tips on designing family cookbooks

designing cookbooks

This particular cover called to me, so I choose it for the book. It reminded me of the little church that my family built years ago.  I had the front and back cover laminated to preserve it from any spills, so the photo is a little shiny.  Sorry about that.

designing cookbooks

Next, I added a section of my favorite family quotes to the family cookbook.  In addition, there are four sections which included Appetizers, Beverages & Dips, Main Dishes and Sides, and Desserts.  I gathered approximately 200 recipes from family, friends, and co-workers to include.  It also includes a few of my aunt’s recipes, so the book is even more special to me.

In 2019, Mother 2 Mother will be sharing a few recipes from this book.  I grew up on many of them, and I really enjoy making them now.  They bring back so many memories.

.

The company that I worked with, G & R Publishing, was great. They added a section filled with craft ideas for kids. I will also be sharing some of the crafts from the family cookbook in future posts as well.  G & R provided a template, which made inputting the recipe a breeze.  They also did the formatting of the book.

cookbook ideas

Next, my family’s church is pictured on the back of the book.  It was built around 1848 by my great, great, great, grandfather, who was a freed slave.  It also includes one of my favorite bible versus.  Additionally, this church was used as a school and for community meetings.  I am proud to say, that it still stands.  My grandparents and other ancestors are buried in the cemetery on the grounds of the church.

If you ever want to do a tribute to a family member or friend, consider putting together a family cookbook.  Here’s 5 reasons to design one:

  • Celebrate life with good food, family, and friends.
  • Family cookbooks are a great gift idea, perfect for a giveaway, fundraiser or goodie bag.
  • Family recipes bring a bite of nostalgia to the kitchen.
  • It’s a great way to preserve family recipes.
  • Store family love in your heart with good food from your ancestors.

Last, I put my foot into it as the saying goes when I’m cooking.  But, I also put my heart into my dishes. This is a perfect way to remember those who are no longer with us, they will always be in our hearts.  Finally, it’s also a great way to bring family to the table, and get a good conversation going about your childhood.  I hope you found our tips on designing family cookbooks helpful.
