White Sangria Recipe

  • 1 bottle of white wine
  • 1 cup of white cranberry juice
  • 3/4 cup of Apple flavored Barcardi Rum
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of red seedless grapes halved
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 lime sliced

Stir first 4 ingredients until sugar is dissolved.  Add the red grapes, orange and lime slices.  Chill up to 2 days before serving.  The longer you chill it, the better it tastes.  Nice refreshing drink for a GNO party. *Note: This can be served in a punch bowl, but it looks beautiful served in a nice glass pitcher.  Great center piece on the food table.

Welcome To CVS

Welcome to CVS. You can find these feathered friends wandering the grounds at our local CVS welcoming the customers. Aren’t they adorable. These little fellows will pose while you take their picture and entertain the children for a few moments. The parking lot is full of moms and their little ones enjoying the new greeters.

When I saw them I wondered if Wal-Mart would pick up on the idea and fire their greeters. Why do I say this, because these feathered friends are friendlier than the greeters at my local Wal-Mart. The greeters there look like they’ve eaten a jar of sour pickles, they’re mad as hell about it, and they’re ready to take it out on you. I’ve yet to have one ask me if I needed a cart or say Welcome to Wal-Mart. They act like they’re doing people a favor by letting them in the store to spend their own money. There have been times when I’ve looked at a few of them, and said to myself I’m scared of you. I wanted to ask if they had woke up that way, if they were having a bad day or what, but I was actually afraid to say anything. So I just kept walking, and occasionally I would look back over my shoulder to make sure they weren’t following me with an ax, lol.
Aside from the mean greeters, just trying to find a parking space at that store raised my blood pressure a few notches. By the time I reached the front door of that store I was usually frizzled. A warm welcome would have been nice.

I know times are tough, but it is a job and you are getting paid. Can I get a smile please? I’ve thought maybe they really don’t want to be here; they’ve lost a six digit salary and this is the best they can do for now. Who knows what’s going on in someone’s life.  Maybe my timing was off and I just showed up on their bad days.
I am pleased to announce that my trauma is over, they’ve built another Wal-Mart that’s a little closer to me. I’m no longer stressed because I can’t find a parking space within a 1 – 2 mile radius, and to top it off the greeters always have a smile and Welcome Me to Wal-Mart. I love good customer service.
I still can’t get the memory of mean Wal-Mart greeters out of my head. I guess I’ve been damaged for life. I’m tempted to send the pictures of my new feathered friends to Wal-Mart’s corporate office, and suggest that they replace those mean greeters with a few little duckies. They understand customer relationships. Everyone enters and leaves CVS with a smile on their face. A grassy knoll, a few bugs and worms and a flashing camera is all they require in compensation.

How’s your Wal-Mart greeters? Please leave us a comment on your experience(s).

Only Positive Attitudes Beyond This Point

Have you ever been around someone who has a frown carved into their face and they reek of negativity like a drunk reeks of alcohol? If you say black, they will say white. You see the glass as as half full and they see it as half empty. I work with a manager who falls into this category. When I see her, I want to run in the other direction.

I hung a poster like the one shown outside my office door, hoping Ms. Negative would see it and it would have an affect on her. To this day, I don’t believe she even noticed the poster. Her employees are begging other managers to help them find jobs in their departments, and she walks around like everything is fine. There’s constant drama in the office, and guess who is always in the middle of it.
It’s so bad that I refused to ride with her on a business trip. I didn’t want to be stressed out before we reached our destination. I have wondered if people with this mind set are aware of the devastation that they leave behind when they exit a room, a party or any social interaction. I know this lady is miserable and unhappy with herself and her life, and I should have compassion, but I find it hard to feel anything except dread and nausea when I see her. I am a strong woman emotionally, and for the most part I am able to keep my emotions in check, but I have found someone who literally makes me sick.
Rather than allow Miss Negative to affect my health and bring me down, I knew that I had to come up with a method to ward off her devastation and the sign of the cross or a voodoo doll would not be sufficient. I thought of using a baseball bat to put her out of her misery, but the thought of me being handcuffed and dragged off to the pokey ended that quickly. Besides, I’m not a violent person. The perfect solution came to me, a smile. I knew that she wouldn’t understand it, but it would help me get through the days when I had to interact with her.
Smiling has been shown to improve one’s health. It helps reduce stress and you’re seen as a more attractive person. Personally, I feel better when I’m smiling and I see myself as an attractive person. Additional benefits are:

  • Reduces your blood pressure.
  • Reduces stress.
  • Changes your mood.
  • It’s contagious
  • Boosts your immune system
  • Produces a positive attitude
  • Draws other people to you.

Be sure to start your day with a smile. It’s very becoming. Leave us a comment and let us know how you deal with negative people.

Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Colors

My 19 month old grandson loves the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers in colors. He would eat them until he exploded if I allowed it. They’re baked, crisp, and healthy. A serving is 55 crackers, which he receives far less. The calories from 55 crackers is 140 and 20 carbs. I allow him to snack on these colorful crackers with sliced apples. His response is hummmmmmmm!
Did I mention these tasty little treats come in fabulicious colors like yellow, purple, green, pink, and red. Pepperidge Farms has been making Goldfish snacks since 1997. I remember eating these crackers long ago, they didn’t have the colors, but they were just as delicious and fun. You can find these tasty snacks in the following flavors:
  • Original (plain)
  • Cheddar
  • Colors (Cheddar flavor, but with different colors)
  • Parmesan
  • Pretzel
  • Pizza
  • Cheese Trio (Cheddar, zesty cheddar, and Parmesan)
Your mouth will never be bored with these options. I highly recommend this delicious snack, so pick up a bag on your next trip to the grocery store you’ll love them, they are “The snack that smiles back! Goldfish!” Leave us a comment, and let us know your favorite flavor.
